The Vine Bridge
徳島県にいくつかある有名な観光地のひとつに、４５メートルのつたで大歩危峡に架けられたかずら橋があるの。 何ヶ月かその話しを聞き続けた後で、私はどうしても見てみたいとおもったの。
ある土曜日、私は２人の同僚と車に乗って祖谷へ向かったの。 その村は徳島から２時間くらいはなれていたわ。 それは四国山脈の間を走ってとってもきれいだったし、あっという間に感じたわ。
私が橋を見たとき、とってもびっくりしたわ。 私はそれが本当につたと少しのケーブルで出来たものだということが信じられなかったわ。 それはとっても深くって、ほとんど底がないような谷に不安定そうにかかってたの。
とっても怖く見えたわ！
みんな歩いて渡ったわ、落ちないようにいっぽいっぽ気をつけながら。 私も試すべき？ 私はすっごく不安だったわ、でも私はこんなに遠くに来てたの。 ここで引き下がるわけにはいかないわ。
私は大事な命のためにしっかりとロープをにぎって、すり足で気をつけて渡ったわ・・・。 下を見ないようにして！
One of the few major tourist attractions in Tokushima prefecture is Kazura Bashi, a 45 meter vine bridge spanning the Oboke Gorge. After hearing about it for several months, I really wanted to see it for myself.
One Saturday, I got into the car with two of my co-workers and headed out to Iya, a village a couple of hours away from Tokushima City. It was a beautiful ride through the mountains of Shikoku and the time passed quickly.
When I saw the bridge, I was quite surprised. I hadn’t believed that it was really made only of vines and a few thin cables. It suspended precariously over the deep, almost bottomless gorge.
It looked really scary!
Everyone was walking across, stepping carefully so as not to fall through. Should I give it a try? I was indescribably nervous, but I had come this far. There was no turning back now.
I clutched the ropes for dear life and shuffled cautiously across… Just don’t look down!
